He served as a dayan in Vilna for almost 20 years, and later served as rabbi of Trebitsch and then Braude, Moravia. Finally, in 1666, he was appointed rabbi of Ofen (Budapest). He authored the responsa work She'eilos UTeshuvos Shaar Ephraim, and Machaneh Ephraim, sermons on the Torah (which was never published). One of his talmidim was R' Tzvi Ashkenazi (the Chacham Tzvi), who was also his grandson.

Also, according to the above-mentioned book, the father of R' Avraham Rappaport Shrentzel was the recognized Torah scholar, R' Yisrael Yechiel HaKohen.

Finally, according to said book, the yahrzeit of R' Moshe Rivkah's is 4 Elul, and he died in 1671. One of the leading figures of religious Zionism, he served as Rishon L'Tzion (Sefardic Chief Rabbi of Israel) from 1983-1993. He learned from gedolim and rabbanim spanning the entire gamut of Klal Yisrael, including the Baba Sali, ztvk"l, the Chazon Ish, ztvk"l, and the Lubavitcher Rebbe, ztvk"l, and many more. Was mentor of Rabbi Meir Kahane, HY"D, and Jonathan Pollard (may he be released speadily, in our days, amen), for whom he gave his life. He fought to uphold the minhagim of the Ben Ish Chai, ztvk"l, which led to conflicts between himself and his older colleague Maran HaRav HaGaon Chacham Ovadia Yosef, shlit"a. His father, R' Salman, ztvk"l, was a ba'al teshuvah and outstanding mekubal, and his mother, Mazal, was (I believe) a relative of the Ben Ish Chai. Died last year (2010) after long illness.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4627447079343465477.post-90532610864747932662010-07-12T09:16:54.906-04:002010-07-12T09:16:54.906-04:00Steve-

It can be spelled many different ways. the Bluzhever Rebbe, who was also a descendant of the Bnei Yisaschar ben acher ben, spelled it Spira. The Minchas Elazar had no sons so I don't know how it would be spelled in English. I just used the way I saw most often.
